Spring Training!

Long time no post. Anyway, J.P. is a non-roster invite to the Jays Sprint Training. Not surprised, but it is exciting and I hope he gets lots of playing time. Hopefully he will have a good spring and start at AAA.

Their first ST game is Feburary 25th, but catchers report the 14th. I'm very excited to watch him play this spring, I got the MLB TV offseason package so I could watch some ST games :)

Also, check out toronotbluejays.com, there is an interview with J.P. Arencibia on the front page. Sweet!

#2 Baby!

Just got my new Baseball America magazine today and J.P. is rated the #2 prospect for the Jays, behind Travis Snider. That is fantastic news, especially beating out Brett Cecil who is one heck of a pitcher. He will be ready for Toronto next year for sure.

Also, he went 2-5 last night, with a double and a run. However, the game was suspended in extra innings because of a power outage at the stadium. That's not good, lol. Hopefully J.P.'s power outage won't last much longer and he'll get a a few more jacks in before the season is over. My guess is he'll get tonight off though, oh well.

Game Time

The Phoenix Desert Dogs are 15 minutes from taking on the Mesa Solar Sox. J.P. is the DH tonight, but it's going to be a battle tonight as Tommy Hanson is pitching for Mesa. Hanson is easily the best pitcher in the Braves system, and is in the discussion for the best RHP in all of the minors. Hopefully JPA can continue is good week as he is 4-7 with 2 2Bs and a walk! He also threw a guy out at 2nd and picked another off at 1st yesterday. He's recent hot hitting has raised his average to .299 and his OPS is .920. If he can get a hit or two of Hanson tonight, that would be awesome, Hanson has drawn comparisons to Jake Peavy and hsould be in Atlanta next year. Here is the BOX SCORE.

MiLP POY

JP was named the Blue Jays Minor League POY by MiLB.com. Great accomplishment, competing against Travis Snider and some other capable bats in the Jays system. J.P. had one heck of a year in 2008 with 27 jacks and 105 RBIs. I had high hopes for his first full year in pro ball, but this past season exceeded any and every expectation I had. We're hoping for a call up to Toronto sometime in 09.

The Collection

Well, as a part of my uber fandom of J.P., I also have a large baseball card collection of him. You can see it here:

The Start

Well, welcome to me blog about my favorite baseball player, J.P. Arencibia. I've been a fan of J.P. since he was a freshman at the University of Tennessee. He currently is the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system. He was played for the Dunedin Blue Jays (hi A) and the New Hampshire Fishercats (AA). Currently JPA is playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League (AFL). In fact, he hit 2 home runs today.

I kinda got this blog started a little late into his career, but I'll be updating it often. I welcome any comments and feedback!

Please keep checking back for updates, stories, and stats about the future catcher of the Blue Jays!!
